Washington, DC will play host to the Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music from September 18-25.
The festival, organized by Sonic Circuits, a DC-area promoter, features experimental luminaries such as Italian-American composer and multimedia artist Andrea Centazzo. Centazzo is known for his free-improvisation work with Don Cherry and John Zorn, among others, and most recently, his solo percussion concert, in which he plays over 200 instruments, including electronics, computer sequencing, and digital sampling.
Other notable acts include electronic artist Fennesz, the Jonathan Matis-led Low End String Quartet, French avant-rock band Magma, and experimental noise collaborators Merzbow & Richard Pinhas.
The festival will take place in five venues across the DC area: The Fridge, Fairfax Old Town Hall, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, La Maison Française, and the Strathmore Mansion.
All-festival passes are sold out, but tickets still remain for individual venues and showcases.
