This week’s MP3 premiere comes from Bay Area experimental, electronic jazz group Beep. “Robo Pup” is on the band’s upcoming release, City of the Future, which features tUne-yArDs‘ Merrill Garbus supplying vocals on a few tracks. Eli Crews, known for his work with Deerhoof and Why?, handled production on the new album.

The avant-garde trio consists of bassist Nate Brenner, pianist Michael Coleman, and drummer Sam Ospovat — all longtime Bay Area musicians experienced in a wide range of styles. City of the Future pulls all of that experience together in a swirling, cosmic jazz odyssey that showcases a real knack for melody, as evidenced by “Robo Pup.”
