Back in October of 2010, ALARM featured British guitarist Matt Stevens in a story explaining how the independent artist uses social networking to support and disseminate his music. Stevens is also a part of The Fierce & The Dead, an instrumental rock trio that is set to release a new full-length album in May.

This week, the band released a new, two-song single, 10×10, offering audiences a sneak peek into the new album with a “name your price” sales model. The track above, “10×10,” starts off slowly and builds with circular guitar lines and rumbling bass in classic post-rock style. Near the halfway mark, the song takes a turn and hints at the band’s more explosive side. And on the single’s B-side, “Foreign Languages” is a low-key, down-tempo affair that rides a buzzing bass line into slow-jam territory.
