The Casket Lottery: “In the Branches”
Remember when “indie rock” bands used to play…*ahem*…rock music? If you’re under the age of 20, you might not — but either way, get acquainted with the recently reactivated Casket Lottery. Formerly a trio, the Nathan Ellis-led outfit has since expanded to a five-piece with a keyboardist, a second guitarist, and a third vocalist.
Here’s “In the Branches,” the second track on Real Fear, the band’s first full-length album in 10 years. The tune follows a fiery yet melodic minute-long opener, and it immediately features the new guys, adding piano accents alongside dueling guitars and vocals. Crank it, replay it, and shout along.
