Despite its hectic, globe-trotting schedule, even Oklahoma psych-rockers The Flaming Lips have found the time to gear up for Record Store Day. To celebrate, the band joined forces with a wide array of musical talents — including Bon Iver, Nick Cave, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Yoko Ono, and more — to release an RSD exclusive: a limited-edition, multi-colored double LP, appropriately titled The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends.
Also to be released on Record Store Day is a 7″ single from Mastodon, which features its cover of The Flaming Lips’ “A Spoonful Weighs a Ton.” Pressed on baby-pink vinyl, this 7″ is part of RSD’s Side-by-Side series.
