Mitten-fisted talent-show skills in Brokeback’s video for “The Wire, the Rag, and the Payoff”

In the video for Western-psych-rock group Brokeback’s "The Wire, the Rag, and the Payoff," the band performs in an empty auditorium, showcasing its skills despite peculiar...hand-gear.

The new album from Western-psych-rock group Brokeback featured “more than a little reverb, a sense of wide-open space, and a strong kinship with Americana,” and we here at ALARM thought it was pretty good. Now the band has premiered a video for “The Wire, the Rag, and the Payoff,” which we premiered last month.

Taking the form of a Wes Anderson-esque talent show, the video features the band members performing solo on a darkened stage, backed up by projected scenery of the American West. We guarantee, though, that you won’t be able to stop watching their hands.
