MP3 Premiere: Folk duo Brown Bird heads East with “Nine Eyes”

"Nine Eyes" is an example of folk duo Brown Bird’s varied influences, as Eastern rhythms mix with upright bass strums, psych-rock guitar, and vocal harmonies.

Brown Bird: Fits of Reason (Supply & Demand, 4/2/13)

Folk duo Brown Bird broke out of Rhode Island in 2011 with Salt for Salt. Making year-end lists and touring with the likes of Trampled by Turtles and The Devil Makes Three, members David Lamb and MorganEve Swain have spent their time since then listening to, writing, and making new music.

The band’s second album, Fits of Reason, comes out April 2, and “Nine Eyes” is an example of the group’s varied influences. Eastern rhythms mix with upright bass strums, psych-rock guitar, and vocal harmonies. It’s a recording that brings folk and “world music” to a mutual understanding.
