Polymath protester Ai Weiwei goes metal with “Dumbass”

Ai Weiwei is a true Renaissance man. A Chinese artist, he stands strongly against the country’s communist regime, landing in prison for controversial artwork and criticism. Nothing, however — not a 2009 beating-related cerebral brain hemorrhage nor his 3-month detainment — can slow him down.

On June 22, Weiwei is releasing an album, entitled The Divine Comedy, and he’s dropped a Christopher Doyle-shot video for the first track. The provocatively titled “Dumbass” deals with his time in prison, as well as lamenting the fact that “the field is full of fuckers.” Check it out below.
