You can own Steve McQueen and Dennis Hopper’s motorbikes

Fans of film and bikes who have more money than they know what to do with will get a chance to own a bit of history at this year’s Mecum Celebrity Items Auction in Santa Monica, California. Bikes that belonged to two of the most famous motorcyclists in film, Steve McQueen and Dennis Hopper, will be on the block, and they are gorgeous.

McQueen’s, a 1971 Husqvarna 400 Cross, was one of his favorite off-road and racing bikes, one famously appearing with him on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Also heading to the block is his 1931 Harley-Davidson VL 74, a restoration project he was working on when he passed. Hopper’s, a ’68 Husqvarna 250 T Commando, is one of only 300 of that bike ever made.

So if you have nothing to do July 26 and 27 and have a lot of cash burning a hole in your pocket, head over to the auction. For the rest of us, Easy Rider and The Great Escape will have to do.
