Swedish electro-pop duo The Knife (comprised of siblings Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer) brought their Shaking The Habitual tour to Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom Wednesday night, and with it a troupe of vocalists and choreographers clad in matching satin jumpsuits. But before the ensemble took the stage for a mixture of live singing and backing tracks, a wig-covered hype man coated in glitter warmed up the crowd by guiding the venue through a set of self-affirmations, urging attendees to hug one another, and leading the Aragon through a set of stretches and aerobics.
Marking the group’s first set of shows in the US since 2006, the concert strived to “play with the expectations and question the habits of the concert, the dance performance, the club, and the music festival,” according to a press release.
