Gojogo: All is Fair

Gojogo - All Is Fair In the hands of the wrong musicians, experiments on ProTools and other home recording software can come out sounding inauthentic and useless, which makes Gojogo a godsend is so many ways; they are a classically trained quartet in the music of several root cultures, including African and Indian, and are passionately devoted to the kinds of sounds that are introduced into musical climates when languages speak to each other.

All is Fair is a noble and perhaps an unheard-of musical experiment – a treatise, if you will, on medieval European music given a modern score. Combing the territories and instrumentation of the 15th century India, which introduced to the world the hypnotizing tabla, Gojogo merge percussive drone with gorgeous, classically influenced European strings, resulting in entirely modern sounding tome.

All if Fair gracefully eschews electronics, although in no slight way adding to the equation a multitude of possible samples for artists who insist on making beats their way. Let’s hope they fall into the right hands.
