Listen: A Perfect Circle Take 14 Years To Release New Album

Maynard James Keenan can do whatever the hell he wants. At 53 years-old he’s done more than most will ever do, signing in not one, but three successful bands (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer.) Yes, he bought a winery. Yes, he named it after a pubic wig (Merkin Winery.)

He can also wait 14 years with A Perfect Circle before releasing a new album. “In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder,” he said about the new album which should be released sometime next year on BMG.

The band is teasing the album with an early release of the track “The Doomed.”

Cannibal Corpse witness real-life stabbing, create video “Code of the Slashers”

On November 3rd, Cannibal Corpse will release their 14th full-length, Red Before Black (Metal Blade Records.)

The band has released a video for the single, “Code of the Slashers.”

“After crawling through abandoned buildings, crashing our van into a tree in the middle of a scene, witnessing a real stabbing and drenching ourselves in fake blood in a derelict park at 5am, we can safely say this was a proper introduction to the slasher genre for (us). We brought a slab of fresh meat back from a rotting metropolis, and we’re serving it to you raw. Come and get it,” says director Zev Deans (Behemoth‘s “Messe Noire”, Ghost‘s “Square Hammer”, Portal‘s “Curtain.”)

“Throughout our career, we’ve tried to improve the precision of both our musical execution and our album production, while still maintaining full-on aggression. ‘Red Before Black‘ continues in that direction, but might go even further on the aggressive side of things. It’s definitely precise, but it has a rawness to it that goes beyond anything we’ve done recently,” says bassist Alex Webster. “We really worked super hard crafting these songs, practicing them, and getting them where we wanted to be more so than on any of our previous albums,” adds drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz. “And as Alex said, musically I think it’s the most raw sound we’ve had – and at the same time I think it’s our most focused, tightest and catchiest record.”
