Ashmedi, the front-man for long-running “Mesopotamian black metal” group Melechesh, has teamed up with Fernandes Guitars to release a signature 12-string model, the Vortex Scimitar. Produced in a V shape, the Vortex is aimed at the extreme metal crowd, and, according to Ashmedi, “the octave sounds are subtle and great when playing power chords, single notes, and fast riffing.” Check out the specs and a few images below.
Spread out across venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn, this year’s CMJ Music Marathon provided a glimpse at some of the year’s best emerging artists in addition to a healthy lineup of veteran performers. With five days of showcases and concerts to attend, the festival offered something for everyone, with bands representing a variety of genres.
Four continents, five bad-ass bands: Greece’s Septicflesh, Brazil’s Krisiun, Jerusalem’s Melechesh, Canada’s Ex Deo, and the USA’s Inquisition. This October, they all join forces to tour the United States and parts of Canada. Miss it at your peril!
