With a sound dubbed “Casio-grindcore” by the press, U.K. concept-metal trio Trencher mix the brevity of hardcore with grindcore’s ferocious incomprehensibility and Cookie Monster vocals, sprinkle a little prog on top, and wrap it up in a cartoonish, psychedelic, synth-driven package. Midway through Lips, their newest full-length, a curious track called “In Reverence” even finds the band exploring several minutes of uncharacteristic drone.

How did you get interested in burlesque?
Well, I was born with a dirty mind, I’m pretty sure!
When I was very young, I spent plenty of time holed up in the garage, enjoying my daddy’s Playboy magazines. There were stacks of them- hours of fun! While growing up, I was fascinated with all things sexual.

The Asteroid #4: These Flowers Of Ours – A Treasury Of Witchcraft And Devilry
Over a decade ago, Philadelphia-based The Asteroid # 4 came onto the music scene, playing the kind of drug-hazed psychedelia that was a dime-a-dozen back in the 1960s. After gaining some recognition after appearing on a Spaceman 3 tribute album, they quickly released their debut, Introducing… . However, the six-piece went more or less under the radar for many years, releasing five albums without managing to pinpoint a distinct sound. Instead they floated aimlessly between music scenes, never really finding a niche.
