Buck 65: “Bone of Contention”
[audio:https://alarm-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/09-Bone-Of-Contention.mp3|titles=Buck 65: “Bone Of Contention”]The title of his new album, 20 Odd Years, is a good indication of Buck 65‘s longevity in the music industry. The Canadian hip-hop artist (real name: Richard Terfry) has made a long career out of experimental production and unconventional rhymes, recently incorporating elements of folk, blues, and electronica into his signature avant-garde sound.
On “Bone of Contention,” a digital-only bonus cut from 20 Odd Years, Buck’s gravelly delivery is as deft as ever, navigating a climbing bass line and circular guitar line. The track sports a radio-ready hook, compliments of Coral Osborne, daughter of 54-40‘s Neil Osborne.
If you’re in Austin for SXSW, check out one of Buck’s three scheduled performances. Details here.

Love all your joints Buck. Hope to see you live again someday soon.

I am in love with this song. Love at first listen! Great bass and drums. So dusty and crispy sounding.
Radical. Really like this one, pity it wasn’t on the album!
