Tool to release Opiate special edition for EP’s 21st anniversary

Tool has announced a special-edition reissue of its debut EP, Opiate, for the album’s 21st anniversary on March 26, 2013. Named after the famed Karl Marx quote, the original album was released in 1992 on Zoo Entertainment.

The reissue is coming with a few goodies. Hand crafted, it will be sold only through the band’s website and is limited to 5,000 copies with no pre-order period. The package will be broken down into five 1,000-piece runs, with each run having different bonuses, including new images to be used with the glasses from the 10,000 Days packaging. Individuals will be limited to three packages from each of the 1,000-piece runs.

The art direction is by guitarist Adam Jones, the packaging designed by Mackie Osborne, and comic artist Adi Granov is providing illustrations. Keep an eye on the band’s Facebook page for more information.
