Grizzly Bear are no strangers to playing to larger audiences. The Brooklyn-based band recently played a show for the Wordless Music Series in New York and is scheduled to play with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra this spring.
Both shows feature groups from seemingly different places on the musical spectrum in an effort to bridge the gap between “genres and generations.”

Hi-Fi Stereo is the first album from Reverend Organdrum, a side project of guitarist Jim Heath, better known as The Reverend Horton Heat. The album trades in the psychobilly sounds of Heath’s alter-ego for famous roots, blues, and lounge tunes, reconstructed with guitar, Hammond organ, and drums.
The tour schedule for Russian Circles’ headlining tour with Dälek and Young Widows has been announced. The dates begin in the band’s hometown of Chicago and continue through the midwest and east coast.
British funk ensemble The Heavy are set to release a new album. Counter Records is co-releasing Great Vengeance and Furious Fire with +1 Records, a branch of the management and publicity company of the same name.
The Wordless Music series pairs contemporary music genres with their more traditional counterparts. Past performances have featured artists such as Beirut, Grizzly Bear, Sigur Rós and Múm.
Miss Badu has joined forces with famed producer Madlib on the track “The Healer” off of her upcoming album New AmErykah (Motown 2008). The song lulls and rocks with a boom-clap that evokes the late great J-Dilla. If it dosen’t make you sprout an afro like a Chia pet, then nothing will. New AmErykah hits shelves on February 26.
